Garden Kick-off

Well the cat happened, the kids, dogs and Caterham are still on the to-do list, so that just leaves the garden. Better crack on then!

Last year we had some plans drawn up by a professional designer to give us guide and after a few months of planning and supplier selection we're now ready to kick off.

We're planning on taking down the big norway spruce in the driveway, but because we're in a conservation area and it is over a certain size, we'll need to get planning permission to do so. The application is in but we'll have to wait six weeks to find out if we're allowed to go ahead.

We have a local groundworker from the village that's taken on the challenge of laying the paving and we've selected some nice sandstone slabs and limestone sets which will be delivered early this week.

Martha and I will be doing all of the planting ourselves (well, Martha will be doing the clever bit of deciding what to plant where, I'm there for the lifting and digging), and I'm going to be dusting off the old tool belt to build the pergola, shed and raised vegetable beds.

Watch this space!
